The US administration has launched a new program called the »Genesis Mission.« Through an executive order, President Donald J. Trump directed the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), in cooperation with national research laboratories, universities, and technology companies, to build a centralized AI platform. The goal is to connect vast amounts of federal scientific data with supercomputers and artificial intelligence in order to speed up research in areas such as energy, semiconductor technology, quantum science, biotechnology, and nuclear fusion.

The initiative is designed to enable complex scientific challenges to be solved far more quickly by using AI-driven simulations, automated experiments, and advanced data analysis. According to the administration, discovery processes that once took years could be reduced to days or even hours. With this program, the US aims to strengthen its technological and scientific competitiveness and views AI as a key driver of economic growth and innovation leadership.

At the same time, the Genesis Mission underscores a strategic race for technological dominance, particularly in relation to China. The initiative unites public and private research capacities — including major tech and semiconductor companies — and signals that Washington considers AI and data to be central resources for the future.
