A devastating fire tore through a residential complex in Hong Kong’s Tai Po district last week, leaving dozens dead and many more missing. In response, Apple has pledged financial support for relief efforts, as announced by CEO Tim Cook on X.

Cook described the tragedy as heartbreaking and expressed gratitude to the first responders. Apple said it will donate to local aid efforts — continuing the company’s tradition of stepping in during global crises.

The fire, reportedly worsened by flammable construction netting used during renovation, is among the deadliest Hong Kong has seen in decades. The scale of destruction has mobilized broad sympathy worldwide.

Apple’s gesture serves both as immediate relief and as a signal of solidarity. In turbulent times, support from global corporations can offer more than just funds — it offers visibility, hope and a measure of reassurance to affected communities.
