From racing driver to venture capitalist: Nico Rosberg (39) has been investing in start-ups since 2016 and now holds stakes in around 40 companies. In 2023, he launched his venture capital umbrella fund, Rosberg Ventures. Today, he steers Rosberg Ventures, a €100 million investment fund. Nico Rosberg left an indelible mark on Formula 1, with his combativeness in the cockpit becoming the stuff of legend. Born as the son of Finnish F1 world champion Keke Rosberg, motorsport was practically in his blood. He started karting at a young age and steadily climbed through the junior ranks until reaching Formula 1.

Rosberg made his debut in the pinnacle of motorsport in 2006 with Williams. Right from his first race at the Bahrain Grand Prix, he turned heads by setting the fastest lap. From 2010 to 2016, he drove for the Mercedes factory team, where he evolved into one of the sport’s most successful drivers—especially in the final years of his career.

His crowning achievement came in 2016, when he clinched the Formula 1 World Championship after a fiercely contested season. Rosberg prevailed over his teammate Lewis Hamilton, with their rivalry dominating the year as they battled in identical machinery – a true test of skill. That season, Rosberg won nine races and stood on the podium 16 times. He sealed the title with a second-place finish at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, securing the championship by just five points.

In a shocking move, Rosberg announced his immediate retirement from racing shortly after becoming world champion. He told BBC that achieving his ultimate sporting dream had fulfilled him and that he now wanted to spend more time with his family.

Since retiring, Rosberg has remained involved in motorsport as a TV pundit and an entrepreneur in electric mobility and sustainability. Among his ventures is founding Rosberg X Racing in the Extreme E series. His success extends beyond the track – according to unconfirmed reports, his net worth is estimated at around €50 million.

Rosberg’s legacy endures not just as a world champion, but as a fighter who pushed limits, defied expectations, and walked away on his own terms.
