The Meta Group, parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has signed a multi-billion dollar contract with Google. According to Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter, the agreement spans six years and involves a volume of at least ten billion US dollars. Meta is paying this amount to gain access to Google's cloud computing services – specifically, servers and storage capacities.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced plans to invest hundreds of billions of dollars in artificial intelligence and the necessary infrastructure. Although Meta reportedly operates more than two dozen of its own data centers and is expanding them further, some will not be operational for several years. Until then, the company requires an interim solution.

The two companies had already collaborated in 2023: At that time, businesses and developers were able to use Google Cloud to access Meta's AI models and develop applications based on them. So far, Amazon and Microsoft have dominated the cloud market. Google has confirmed the deal to Bloomberg, while Meta has declined to comment on the matter.
